This has been a tough week so I am definitely in need of a
throwback Thursday that will make me smile! If you know me personally, then you
know that I can be really crazy around the holidays. I’m one of those people
who spend hours at the Christmas tree lot, and have even been known to go to
more than one (just ask my poor husband). A couple years ago, I went with my friends to
pick out their tree and the lot owner offered me a free tree as well. Being as
I LOVE Christmas and everything about it, I was not about to turn down a free
tree…. thus started the tradition of two trees in our house.
When it comes to trees, I think the bigger the better! If it wasn’t for my husband, I would probably pull a Clark Griswald and have a tree that is so tall it goes through the roof of our home. Last year I convinced Dan to go buy a couple pieces of PVC pipe so I could make my own poll to make sure I got a tree that would fit perfectly in the living room. I don’t want a tree that’s too short and we’ve dealt with having one that’s too tall (we cut the bottom 3 feet off in the middle of the entry way with a chainsaw). So having an 11 and a half-foot tree that fits perfectly is important! We have 12 foot ceilings, and when you get out in the middle of a lo on a cold winter morning, its hard to decipher whether or not a tree will fit. Problem solved!! ☺ Are you starting to visualize how annoying of a Christmas person I am?
I’m sure people think I’m crazy, and truthfully I probably am a little, but it makes me happy! The holidays are my favorite time of the year. The lights, the smell of the tree, being around family, baking cookies, delivering presents to families who are less fortunate than us with the fire department family . . . to me there is no better time of year. So Happy Christmas in July! (If only my husband let me get a tree in July too!)
