Being four years apart, we had different friends, were in different schools most of the time, and were involved in different activities. I spent hours cheering him on at the baseball and football fields, and he would sit in the audience for my band concerts. While we may be four years apart, and growing up I never thought we would actually like each other, I love spending time with him and watching him grow up (even though I'm not really ready for that). Tonight, as we get together as a family to celebrate his birthday, he's bringing a girlfriend for the first time ever. It's a little bittersweet to see him growing up and becoming so mature. I couldn't be more proud of the amazing man he is and love him more and more every day!
It's funny how as children, it's the younger sibling who feels so excited when their older brother or sister wants to spend time with them. Now the tables have turned. I feel so honored when he wants to spend time with me and cherish any conversations and time together. I am thankful that our family lives so close together and enjoys each other's company so much. While I've reached out to my birth parents the past few years and gotten to know some of my other siblings, Taylor will always be the most important one! From the jokes and memories, to the laughter and tears, growing up with him was all but boring and always entertaining!
Happy Birthday Taylor! I'm so thankful that we get to celebrate with you! I love you more than you know and am so proud of the amazing person you are!
