Day Dreaming of Paradise

Monday, February 3, 2014

In just 26 short days, the hubby and I will be on a plan headed for Florida and a cruise ship with our name on it (not really, but that would be pretty awesome). Dan and I booked our cruise about 6 months ago, and we have been looking forward to it ever since. We will be soaking up the sun in the Bahamas, St Thomas, San Juan, and Grand Turk during our 7 day cruise! We have been talking about taking a trip like this ever since we first started dating, and I can't believe we're actually going! Dan has been on cruises with his parents before, but this will only be my second time cruising. I am really excited to visit 5 new places (including Florida) that I have never been before.

So being the girl that I am, I have already started compiling my packing list in my head. Let me tell you, its a little difficult to pack for a tropical vacation when most of the stores still have their winter line out. I've been browsing the internet to look for cute swimsuits, sundresses, and summery tops. I'll find a bunch of stuff I like online and then go in to the store and find ZERO summer options! And sometimes it just isn't that easy to pick out a swimsuit online. I ordered one and it came with no padding or even extra lining in the chest area. What are people with larger than an A cup supposed to do? Dan being ever so helpful suggested that the swimsuit I ordered just be a lounging in the sun sort of suit that you don't wear in the water. How the heck is that practical? I appreciate his help in trying to make me feel better about the fact that the $80 suit I just ordered online and waited 3 weeks to ship in the mail doesn't fit and I'm back to square one. Here's to hoping the two I ordered from Macy's will have a bit more support. :)

Okay back to the reason I started this post . . . the cruise. I would love any and all suggestions for tips and tricks for cruising. Have you been to any of those ports before or sailed on Carnival? Since this has been such a stressful few months, I thought about having our cabin decorated for us to surprise Dan when we first check in to our room. Maybe a bottle of champagne or something nice. We are doing an excursion in St. Thomas, a catamaran sailing trip for the day, but we don't have anything else planned for the other ports. Have you been to any of those places and have ideas for what we should do while we're there? I'd like to maybe go on one more excursion or get passes to a beach club or something in one location. As long as there's sun, drinks, and sand in my future, I'm a happy girl!

So if any of you out there have any suggestions please send them my way! I would love to get ideas of fun things to do on the ship or in each port! While I'm gone, I'd also love it if any of you wonderful readers would like to guest post. I was thinking it would be fun to have different people share a post about their favorite vacations, and then when I get back I will fill you all in on ours! Of course you can follow along via my instagram and twitter which I'm sure I'll be updating throughout our trip when I can! I'll apologize now for the next 26 days and any over-excitement or gloating I do. Here's to hoping these next few weeks fly by!

  1. First off, I'm SUPER jealous that you will be on a cruise in less than a month!! I'm so over this winter weather! I've never been to any of those islands, but I cruised to Mexico a few years ago, and we had the best time! You guys are going to have so much fun!

  2. uhhh! I'm so jealous - we LOVE cruses! I've never done a carnival cruise, but I would recommend doing the beach in the Bahama's. The beaches are beautiful. San Juan has TONS to see and do, but the best beaches on Puerto Rico are on the east coast (SJ is on the north side). We did a catamaran and snorkel tour at St. Thomas last year and it is one of our most favorite memories ever ~ good choice! I cant wait to hear all about it - you are going to have so much fun!!!

  3. A few years ago we spent a week on a catamaran in the Virgin Islands. It was pure heaven! Have a wonderful trip and know that there are many of us whom envy you.
