Celebrating Mom and Enjoying the Outdoors

Monday, May 12, 2014

Growing up, we used to spend a lot of time outdoors. From walks down at Lake Ontario to trips to local nature centers, some of my favorite memories are spent outdoors. So when it came time to decide what to do on Mother's day and I heard it was supposed to be good weather, a hike was the first thing that came to mind.

I've been spending quite a bit of time at a local wildlife refuge on the weekends. Something about a quite 3 mile walk on a saturday or sunday morning just makes my whole weekend seem a little calmer. Even though we've lived here close to 13 years and it's only about 12 miles away, my parents had never been here. We enjoyed an afternoon visit and walk where we chatted, looked for 4 leaf clovers (a tradition with my dad and me) and took some pictures, since this time I remembered to bring my camera.

There were some gorgeous animals out to watch! We got to see a bald eagle from afar guarding it's nest, bull frog, ducks, blue heron, geese, and lots of birds. It was a fun day to be behind my camera and to enjoy with my parents!

I'm pretty positive I could be completely happy if my job was just to spend my time outdoors photographing animals and beautiful landscapes! I hope everyone else had some nice weather on Sunday and did something fun to celebrate their mom!
