Being a firefighter/paramedic is hard work. Sometimes it can be easy for people on the outside to see funny videos or focus on the fun they all seem to have together while at work, but if they were seriously 100% of the time, they would probably go crazy. If you put 5-7 guys all in the same building every third day, they are obviously going to have fun, joke around, and pull pranks on each other. Sometimes I'm jealous of the camaraderie he has with his fellow shift mates. They turn in to more like family, and definitely have some fun together.
This weekend, I got to witness a little piece of fun at the station. Saturday night we were out with a friend who had just come home from being over seas. I was checking in on all my social media accounts (like every good blogger does) when I noticed Dan had been tagged in something. It turns out he wasn't only tagged in a post, but he was challenged to complete a cold water challenge for the National Fallen Firefighters Association. Firefighters from all over the country are participating in this challenge. All the money raised goes to help support the families and coworkers of firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The way it works is if you're challenged by someone else you have 48 hours to either complete the challenge and pay $10 or decide you don't want to complete the challenge and pay $100. If you decide to complete it, you have to make a video challenging other fellow firefighters and getting wet. Here's a video of Dan's challenge!

I'm glad I got to witness/videotape this fun Sunday night adventure at the station. His partners had no problem moving rigs and turning the water on to watch him get drenched!
