Update On The Home-front

Tuesday, June 3, 2014

It has been a little while since I updated you all on the house buying and selling process so I figured it was about time to do just that!

We choose a house plan, put in an offer and got it accepted on our builders. Those few days waiting to hear if they would accept our offer or not was definitely nerve wracking. Anytime you're making a huge financial commitment like that it definitely causes some worry and a bit of panic, but after talking it through and really looking at all the numbers we were comfortable with our offer and just had to wait to see what they decided. Getting that text message from Dan saying that our offer had been accepted was so exciting . . . and we definitely shared a glass of champagne that night!

So after one stressful decision comes another! We are now in the waiting process for our home. Its been a little less than two weeks since I turned the corner and saw that for sale sign in our yard. Seeing that for the first time was surreal. It all became really real seeing that sign and seeing the listing online. This is the first home we've lived in and owned together and while it's exciting to be buying something that we are customizing and hoping to raise a family in, it's also a little sad to say goodbye to some of the memories we've made here.

Unfortunately the timing hasn't been super and with listing it right around the holiday weekend our traffic has been a bit slow. We are hoping it picks up in the next few weeks or that one of the people who has walked through it will make an offer. Showing the house is a little difficult just with our work schedules and the pets. Every time someone wants to walk through the house we have to take the dog and go do something and also put the cats in their cat carriers in the garage. It isn't as simple as it could be, but we're making it work. Whatever happens will happen, but we definitely have our fingers crossed for good news soon!

It's hard not to sit around and think about it 24/7, but it's also out of our hands. Our realtor always tells us not to worry and to let him worry if there's anything to worry about. I'm a worrier by nature though, so while I sit here and try, I constantly find my mind wandering and thinking about it all. Hopefully we hear something and that it's good news soon!
