Sunriver Getaway: Sunshine, Running, Floating, and Laughs

I'm back from a wonderful four day weekend away. One great thing about living in Oregon is that there are tons of awesome weekend getaway locations just a few hours away. So on Friday morning we loaded up the car, said goodbye to the pets, and headed out to Sunriver, which is a resort about 3 hours south-east of us. There we met up with my parents and settled in to the house we were renting for the weekend. Our main reason for the trip was that Saturday we were all participating in the Half Marathon in Sunriver, so we picked up our race packets and enjoyed a relaxing night at our rental house.

Saturday:
We were up bright and early and ready to tackle the half marathon. We all stayed together till about mile 7, at which point my Dad and Dan headed off in front of us. My mom and I finished the rest of the race together and were very glad to see the finish line!

We spent the rest of the day relaxing, taking naps, playing games, and enjoying some celebratory margaritas at the house. No one had much energy after the half marathon so we decided to stay at the house and just relax the rest of the day. Of course, we had enough energy for some rounds of Heads Up. If you've never played this game, it is definitely worth the purchase. Here's on of the videos from the evening!

Sunday:
We packed up my parent's kayaks and rented a float for Dan and I and headed down to the Deschutes River. We floated and paddled our way down the river for a couple hours enjoying the scenery, getting followed by a duck, and getting plenty of sunshine.

After getting back to the house and enjoying some lunch and a beer, Dan and I decided to head over to the pool for a couple hours. (apparently we hadn't gotten sunburnt enough) We spent a couple hours there and then enjoyed a relaxing dinner and a movie to end the day.

Monday:
Since we had to head home that morning, we decided to get up early and go for a nice bike ride before we had to leave. Dan and I rode about 7 miles and loosened up our legs before making the 3 hour car ride home. It was a nice relaxing way to start the day and end a fun weekend together.

It was so nice to get away for a few days, enjoy a ton of time outdoors, have lots of laughs, make new memories and enjoy time together. I will definitely be looking forward to the next getaway, and getting more time with Dan this weekend since we will get another few days together! Do you have any fun getaways you plan every summer? What's your favorite way to enjoy the sunshine?

  1. I love weekend trips. I hate staying away from home for too long, so I prefer long weekend trips over longer vacations. It looks like you had a blast and I love heads up. It's right up there with Cards Against Humanity.

  6. Gorgeous getaway girl, you got some awesome pics! I wish I had sound here so I could watch that video haha! I have Heads Up too, I had a blast playing it with my niece recently. I played it with my parents last year, they had no idea what it was or that it was recording them, loved it!

  8. I can't plan any summer getaways since I'm a wildland firefighter. That's what winters are for. The Sunriver area is really nice.
