Week: 23 weeks!
Total Weight Gain: About 10 pounds
Gender: Still a little girl! We had another ultrasound last week and the ultrasound tech made sure to check and verify that she was still a little girl!
Symptoms: Definitely starting to feel bigger and bigger, which has taken a little mental adjustment. Figuring out how to dress with the bump so it's most flattering and comfortable has taken some time, but overall feeling good. I've noticed more back pain in the last few days and a couple times last week had a few Braxton Hicks contractions and just overall tightening of my stomach, but part of that could definitely be from her pressing more on my stomach and overall digestive system. Fiber gummies and other supplements have definitely helped keep my stomach pain and overall discomfort a little more at ease. I have also started to notice more skin pigmentation all over, which they say is more common in people with darker complexion. My blood pressure has been pretty low this week, which is nice to hear since it's something I struggle with normally and something we've been keeping a close eye on since getting pregnant. I'm anxious to go to our doctors appointment this week to get my 1 hour glucose test over with and hopefully hear good results.
Cravings: Nothing really this week. For a while I was wanting something sweet like a bowl of ice cream after dinner every night, but the last couple weeks I haven't really wanted it as much and have been able to stay away from the freezer!
Sleep: Overall it has been better. I'm finally starting to get used to sleeping on my side and really using my body pillow more. If for some reason I wake up and my body pillow has moved or been thrown off the bed, I definitely notice more hip and back pain that day! One thing waking me up is having to get up to use the bathroom more again. I get thirsty before bed and it gets so bad that I have to have something to drink, even though I know it will probably wake me up later.
Clothes: For me or her? I invested in a few more maternity tops from Target, Motherhood Maternity, Pink Blush Maternity & Old Navy and finally feel like I have some more options. And I even found a bathing suit to bring with me on our Babymoon in a couple weeks. (who knew shopping for a swimsuit could be any more frustrating that it normally is, but maternity bathing suit shopping takes it to a whole new level.) Most of my regular tops are definitely starting to fit differently or be too tight so I'm glad I've added a few more things to choose from.
Workouts: More walks around the neighborhood, which Cooper definitely enjoys! I've been reading up on a few maternity workout dvds that I think I may order to add in some more stretching and exercise.
Nursery: We haven't added too much this week to her room. Dan is hoping to finish painting her dresser this week on his days off and then we can start figuring out where everything is going to be stored in her room. We are also still on the hunt for a glider/recliner for her room and have been doing some searching and testing out of different chairs. Any suggestions?
Movement: I've started to notice less random kicks and more dance parties happening in my stomach which I love. Dan still doesn't get to feel her much as she usually stops as soon as he puts his hand on my stomach. I've also started to notice that the times she is most active during the day has been changing a bit and she seems to really dance around sometime between 5-6pm.
Best Moment This Week: Finding more maternity tops and a swimsuit to take with us on our babymoon in a few weeks! May 19th can't come soon enough!
Missing: Sleeping on my stomach at night and enjoying a tasty drink after work especially with the gorgeous weather we've been having! I did, however come across an amazing mocktail that I will have to share with all of you!
